Scar Tissue
Has scar tissue got you stiff and sore? If so, then you are like millions of other Americans who are suffering from their own body’s natural healing response. Just like inflammation, scar tissue automatically happens as a response to injury. Think of the last time you cut yourself and the process that is set in motion: blood flowing, scabbing and cellular regeneration and finally a scar that lasts for an indefinite period of time. Now apply this same process to the inside of the body: whether from serious injury, repetitive micro-trauma, or even after surgery, the body must replace cells that have died in organs, muscles and connective tissues. The problem is that this new tissue is only about 60% as elastic as the previous and better design. If left unchecked, scar tissue will accumulate and form adhesions to the surrounding tissue, effectively trapping a region in the body. This can be especially problematic if that area happens to be a joint.
Fortunately, scar tissue accumulation responds very well to chiropractic modalities including the Graston Technique, Active Release Technique and Myofascial Release. Even simple massage is good at getting into trigger points and releasing tension. Scar tissue is actively pulling your body out of balance so if we can prevent this from happening, then we are simultaneously contributing to spinal balance.
Scar tissue doesn’t have to keep you down: call our office in Hackensack to schedule an appointment and find out how we can release you from the grip of tension that is caused by scar tissue build up.
