Summer Nutrition for Beating Back Pain
For people looking to recover from an injury to the back, or for people serious about prevnting injury, diet is a huge way to influence your success. As mentioned before, there is no better time than summer to start eating for the health of your back. Remember that Vitamin D is abundant during the summer, but only if you are outside, absorbing it through your bare skin. Once days turn grey and winter approaches, it is important to keep Vitamin D levels high, whether through supplement or dietary considerations.
Summer ingredients:
- Vitamin C: fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C is important for collagen production which helps your tissue heal faster from a given injury.
- Calcium: eggs, milk, beans and fish. Fish is a great summer protein: lean, full of essential oils and calcium which helps maintain the longevity of your bones.
- Water: we are more thirsty in the summer because temperatures are hotter and we are losing more water through perspiration than in the winter. It is important to maintain healthy levels of hydration during the summer. In this way, you can optimize the performance of every cell in your body, especially as you exercise more vigorously in the sun.
- Anti-inflammatory ingredients: essential oils, especially omega-3 rich coldwater fish, as well as flax and chia seeds and vividly colorful vegetables contain anti-inflammatory properties which will help you beat back pain.
