How Chiropractic Can Help You
Today I will commence a series of blogs on conditions that can be helped immensely by chiropractic therapy. When addressed, these problems can be overcome to restore proper spinal health, eliminate pain and restore you to full working order. The sooner we meet and deal with the pain you are feeling in your body, the quicker you can be on your way to recovery and a full range of motion.
One common condition in chiropractic science is known as subluxation. This affliction occurs when a vertebra or vertebrae move out of their normal position and put pressure on the spinal nerves. These are the nerves that come out between each vertebra and communicate with the brain to control muscles in their specific regions. The pressure on these nerves causes inflammation that manifests itself as pain and discomfort in the affected regions.
There are many causes for subluxation, the chief one being trauma to the spine. Whether from an isolated incident or repetitive smaller episodes, the spine can become misaligned creating pressure on the nerves. From here, simple things like poor posture, lack of exercise and mental stress can add to the problem. 80% of people with phase 1 subluxation, or Subluxation Syndrome, feel little to no pain and may be unaware that they have a problem. At this level, it is little more than a misalignment that can be treated with gentle adjustments, which restore the spine to its proper position and get you on your way.
If unaddressed, however, the condition can worsen and move on to more degenerative stages. The pain can become chronic and the ligaments in the back can become stretched and torn, further limiting your range of motion and in severe cases can lead to partial permanent spinal disability.
There is no reason to let subluxation interfere with your spinal health to this degree. The team I lead at Associates in Chiropractic Family Health and Wellness Center is specifically trained to identify subluxation at any phase and can tailor a holistic daily approach to healing that is drug-less and non-invasive. With regular attention, we can move the spine back into regular alignment and relieve your pain.
