Simple Foods to Try

supafoods
Not all foods are created equal: this much was demonstrated by a nutritional analysis of the chia seed in my previous blog. So, on that topic, I would like to mention a few other foods that are cheap (relative to their health impact) and how you can start incorporating them into your diet. Start with avocados: they are packed with vitamins, delicious and can be turned into guacomole!

Cocount oil: filled with fatty acids, great for use as a cooking oil. Rather than contributing to body fat like a saturated fat, the fatty acids in coconut oil convert into energy to boost the metabolism, thereby fighting body fat.

Flax seeds: similar to chia seeds in that they are filled with fatty acids and fiber. Can be purchased in ground form as a powder; try adding a tablespoon into a smoothie or oatmeal to give it a nutty flavor and a dropkick of nutrition.

Hemp protein: a lean protein that comes in powder form which can be added to smoothies, salads and soups. Hemp protein is known for speeding muscle recovery, whether due to injury or in between training periods.

Humans are programmed to eat all of what is in front of them. By limiting portions and focusing on foods that make you feel full without all the unnecessary calories, we can all maintain a healthy weight. To optimize your diet for the rest of your life, give our office in Hackensack a call.
